Ringo, Harrah's Lake Tahoe 8/29/03

(9/2/03) From Mike Mendoza in Sacramento, CA.:

Hello,

I have just returned from the Aug 29th Ringo and his All-Starrs appearance in Lake Tahoe, NV. The venue for this appearance was listed as Harrah's, but was in reality the Harvey's Outdoor Amphitheater in the Harvey's Casino parking lot. Although this might sound a little bit iffy as venues go, I assure you that it was first class all the way.

Gates opened at 6 PM and the band went on at about 7:35PM. The set list was exactly the same as the first set of shows with the exception of We Can Work It Out.

Ringo looked trim and energetic as he has in all the previous All-Starr appearances. He wore a green jacket over a Ringo Rama black shirt and blue jeans. Colin Hay announced before Who Can It Be Now that his mother was in the audience, and during Shelia E's Glamorous Life / Drum Solo a huge bug flew at her on stage and freaked her out a little bit. The trooper that she is, she continued to perform but was noticeably startled and a little preoccupied with trying to get away from the bug which was still on stage during her song. A backstage worker rushed out and removed the bug, which Ringo mentioned while Shelia was offstage.

I have been to every All-Starr incarnation with the exception of the Eric Carmen line up, and I have to say that this current line up of All-Starrs ranks as one of the more entertaining concerts Ringo has ever presented.
